Meet Jana
“Hi neighbors! I'm running to represent you as Mt. Juliet City Commissioner for District 4. I'm born and raised in Tennessee and want to keep Mt. Juliet a small town.” Jana Elkins
Jana has spent nearly 27 years working for Tennessee families at the Department of Children's Services. She started as a case manager, spent over a decade leading a team of family service workers responsible for up to 100 children and youth in foster care at a time, and has trained the department's staff since 2014.
That work has meant sitting at the table with attorneys, parents, foster families, CASA volunteers, and service providers, and getting them to agree on what's best for a child. It takes patience, a firm grasp of the rules, and a willingness to listen to everyone in the room.
Jana has always played team sports, usually as the coach or a central player, and she put her minor in education to work as a natural teacher. She learns fast, asks questions, follows up, and believes a little light humor never hurts on a hard day.
She'll bring the same approach to District 4: show up, do the homework, and keep her door open to talk about anything.
